Mobile phones today offer an array of multimedia options, the user being able to play video games, watch movies, listen to mp3 songs etc. from his mobile phone. The games can be played on any one of the following devices:

3) PDA,

4) Handheld computer

5) Any handheld device

6) Any wireless device

Customers today look for variety in the gaming options of the phones they purchase, the more exciting the games, the better the buy. Users no longer buy the phones only to make phone calls with, but expect from them a tremendous amount of entertainment in the form of games. You will often notice people clicking away on their mobile phones, totally engrossed in the video games in the phone, while standing at the train station waiting for a train! It is absolutely marvelous what technology has done for us, it has changed the way we live and experience the world today.

The manufacturers of these mobile phones are constantly investing millions of dollars in research and development. The Gartner Inc. has published a study which claims that the Mobile phone business will grow by 49.9 % from $ 4.3 billion in 2007 to $9.6 billion in 2011! The following are some of the important points highlighted in the study:

In Asia the industry will grow from $1.8 billion to $4.6 billion between 2007 and 2011.

In W. Europe it will grow from $1.5 billion to $2 billion during the same time period.

This shows a rapid increase in the demand for mobile phones with advanced multimedia options. The offers made by the manufacturers have obviously worked. An ingenious idea to incorporate video games into mobile phones has taken the global market by storm. You can download these games from the internet or can upload them from other users via Bluetooth and infrared facilities. The games can be downloaded for free from many web sites on the internet, although a few of them charge a small fee for the downloads. It is exciting to see such a demand for multimedia mobile phones, one can only wait in anticipation to see what the future of mobile technology has in store for us!
